The slide moves in between two fixed gliding plates. Each of these two plates has a surface of milled grooves against the slide. These and several other details of the design make the Polle slide system self-lubricating, air tight and nonadhesive.
The slide system is guided by two unique Polle shock absorbers. The Polle shock absorbers allow the slide to move with smooth and noiseless action.

The mouthpiece is connected on top of the shock absorbers. The mouthpiece and slide system parts can very easily be taken apart and reassembled.
